I think 980Ti over 970 SLI would be better choice.

Change the dual 970s to a Dual 980s and change the CPU to an i5 4690k.

Or swap the dual 970s for a 980ti

Laptop: Thinkpad W520 i7 2720QM 24GB RAM 1920x1080 2x SSDs Main Rig: 4790k 12GB Hyperx Beast Zotac 980ti AMP! Fractal Define S (window) RM850 Noctua NH-D15 EVGA Z97 FTW with 3 1080P 144hz monitors from Asus Secondary: i5 6600K, R9 390 STRIX, 16GB DDR4, Acer Predator 144Hz 1440P

As Centos 7 SU once said: With great power comes great responsibility.

Just out of curiosity why the 980 over the sli 970s? I haven't been able to find anything on either side saying why which is better.

the 980ti is a single card, has more vram and is about the preformance of 970 sli and cheaper and you can oc it and upgrade to a sli 980ti if that ever becomes a thing you need

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

Better single card > Dual weaker cards.

When making a build you should always buy the best single card you can buy then you can SLI later.

Also no need for 16GB, 8GB is just fine.

You can just use an i5 4690K, no point in having a i7

Other than that it's a good build.

Thanks. Making the changes I'll be able to save a little money (or just find something else to sink it into) which is always nice.

Why do you need headphones and speakers? Other than that its a good build, but dont do sli, just do one card.

Does $450 leave you with enough for a desk and chair ? I think I selected all your peripherals correctly.

If you are mainly gaming then an i5 and 8GB Ram is fine.

You could also look at the Acer Predator 1440p monitor, although it is about $70 more than the ROG Swift.
