I am not looking into actually buying this, but I was wondering, for the price of a baseline Mac Pro ($4,400 AUD) what kind of machine could you build?

This is what I came up with

Keep in mind this is in AUD

The theme was red and black, and since most people buying a Mac Pro would be doing professional work, I chose a dual 390x setup as that seems to be the most recommended unless you wanted to step up to a firepro. Also it would be able to do some gaming aswell.

So I am pretty sure the Mac Pro got crushed, which leaves me wondering.... aside from size (and some people would worry about building their own pc) why would you buy it?

You buy it because you are into video editing, which takes a lot of storage space for raw videos, and you don't want a computer that can hold drives without buying thunderbolt enclosures.

See, the trash can mac pro solved the problem the old mac pros had: Being the only practical mac desktop for professionals.

Apple couldn't have that.
