Hi guys. I am new to the forum but I follow the Linux you tube channel for some time now and I always like the way guys there explain stuff. After some time I figured there is a whole website and forum so I joined in :)

Anyway I am making my own build and money is issue but not something I cant overcome if I delay my build for a month or so. So its not urgent matter really. I am in no rush to get my new PC for 2-3 months. Because I always had PC bought to me by dad + some gift components by other siblings I never really gave it a good thought. I don't want to spend a lot of money but there are some criteria I would like to set for my PC. The money talk is useless cause i am not "addicted gamer" and don't have a habit to buy new PC every now and then. I used my previous PC for almost 6 years. For some reason I don't like 1080p gaming exp and I play on my 21 inch Sony Trinitron monitor on 1280 X 1024 resolution. When it comes to gaming I play for score not good looks. I don't have a lot of exp when it comes to components but while browsing around the forums and talking to some friends certain questions appeared that I can't answer without consulting with some kind of a gamer community, not that all you guys do is playing video games don't get me wrong here. So I would like someone to point me in right direction with this. I have 3 questions :

1. GPU - I am not a hardcore gamer but I am no stranger to newer titles. I like Blizzard games cause they are the best (personal preference :P ) and games like Dark Soul and strategy games like Rome Total War, RPG's like Divinity Original Sin, Dungeon Siege, and some others like Shadow of Mordor, WoW, HotS, etc. So I hope you guys got some idea of my pref genre cause people tell me its kind of a big deal when buying components. (apparently some games run badly on certain CPU's or favor certain GPU). For example I really, really, really hate Witcher games and Assassin Creed titles. Cant understand the hype around them so don't count me in for that. Sorry if anyone got offended by my choice in gaming. Whats good to get for my resolution and games i like to play?

2. Intel or AMD - I am not a fan of either but as far as I can tell from data available on net Intel is super fast and expensive, offers low power consumption and heating of CPU. On the other hand AMD is focused on mid section of industry offering good performance for reasonable price. I though I looked it all but then I found out directX 12 is coming out and its a big game changer for CPU's. I don't want to have a bottleneck stuff but if that dx 12 is gonna help AMD CPU's a lot is it better to get it now and wait for dx 12 or just go with Intel and spend a lot of cash? Or if there is some new CPU that's coming soon should I wait for it?

3. I never collect movies, games and such stuff on HDD. I am currently using 250 gb HDD and maybe around 150 gb is free space. My way of dealing with the media is to watch/play and delete. I wanted to get 500 gb HDD but my good friend recommended I should maybe buy SSD. Its a lot faster but for the price or HDD offers less disc space. Is SSD a good substitution for HDD? To put OS on it and maybe 2-3 games?

I will get some 8 gb DDR 3 memory from my cousin, his old case and 700 w power supply cause he is getting new PC too. So I was wondering, considering this all, what you guys recommend me to buy? Don't know if its important but I am on Windows 8.1 and I plan to get my hands on new system as soon as they release it. (Windows 10). Money is not an issue when it comes to getting some extra 50-100 dollars. I would say I am prepared to spend maybe 500-600 dollars on parts I am missing + those 50-100 dollars more after I get my paycheck. Sorry for this huge post (and bad english too its not my native language).

1. If you are not looking into playing games like bf4 or COD i would say look for a graphics card like the the 750 ti or you can get something from AMD. (you also have the choice of going with a GTX 960)

2 I have had a really really bad experience with AMD CPUs and I personally would never buy one again however with the budget you have it may be better for you to get an AMD CPU. A core i3 is also a good choice.

3."There aren't a lot of stats available for SSDs lasting 8 years+ because SSDs have only been around a little less than that and have reallyonly become popular in the last 2 years or so as prices have dropped. 8 years is a long time for HDDs to last and HDDs life expectancy has more to do with time than number of writes. HDDs have moving parts, grease than dry up, bearings that can go bad. I wouldn't be concerned with the limited number of writes for an SSD as they have wear leveling and you would need to write the equivalent of of hundreds if not thousands of times the SSD's capacity to even come close. In short, go with the SSD, there is no garentee either HDDs or SSDs will last 8 years, but I can garentee you'll be very happy with the performance and SSD will give you versus an HDD." http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/284064-32-limited-number-writes

Hope you can get the computer that you want :D

I am in Serbia and my currency is dinars Sam :)

As for Ta4life post yes I don't like FPS games. I will only play Overwatch probably- So Amd is not best option? I looked into i5-4460 CPU and with my budget I can pair it up with 960 max, maybe even 970 if I wait a month or two. Or I can get fx 8300 and 970. But it seems 1150 socket can support i7 so it wouldnt be a bad pick maybe if I get my hands on some i7 in the future. Ty for explanation about SSD I will get it now for sure I found one with 5 years warranty its Samsung's SSD :)

AS for games this year I am planing to play Lords of the fallen and going by system req maybe the safe bet would be that i5 - 4460 + 960 gtx. Come to think of it its really disturbing how intel doesent have some middle ground CPU like 3 core ( they could call it i4 :P ) and AMD cant catch up no matter what.

I would go with a 4460 and a 970 the wait would be so worth it.
