VPN leaking user details.

Isn't VPN more commonly used for business? That is the only time I've ever used it.

I guess it depends on your businesses implementation but I imagine they aren't insecure in most cases like these 3rd party VPN services.

 

There are two primary reasons to use a VPN:

1. Businesses or other individuals will use it to connect to their private network (Usually corporate intranet) while out of the office. This provides off-site access to network resources such as network drives, intranet, in-house servers and applications, etc.

2. Circumventing geolocking, and providing some means of additional privacy/anonymous browsing. Most people use these to connect to US Netflix, but other uses might be political activism in places like Iran, Syria, and China, where the government is legit spying on you and you can be imprisoned for saying the wrong thing, even online.
