Opinions on my rig?

Okay, so I am pretty new to the PC community, and I have a lot to learn. I do I have a PC I built myself, though. I am thinking of upgrading the APU to play games like CS:GO and Minecraft. I have an A6-5400K and I want to upgrade to a A10-7850K. I have no dedicated graphics card, but I have 8 GB of ram. Do you think it would be enough?

Also I want a good resource to learn about the models of cpus and gpus, along with a higher level of knowledge about computers. Any suggestions would be great.

I'd say it would be playable. If you were to add in a cheap AMD gpu, it would help significantly also as the APU can work alongside the GPU in some cases?

Also if youre primarily playing a FPS like CS:GO you would want better framerates as its such a fast paced game, just something to keep in mind.

Why not just get a cheap used GPU? What are the benefits for APU?

What motherboard do you have? The A10-7850K will only work on an FM2+ socket and not a plain FM2 socket.

There are a couple things you might consider, however.

Firstly, the A10-7850K is overpriced. The performance of the A8-7650K is nearly identical while it costs substantially less. Secondly, it would be even better to get just a plain Athlon 760K or 860K (whichever is cheaper, and the 860K hinging on whether you have an FM2+ board) and throw in a cheap GPU like an R7 250X, R7 260, GTX 750 etc. depending on what the prices look like where you live.

Intel i5-4690K @ 3.8GHz || Gigabyte Z97X-SLI || 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600MHz || Asus GTX 760 2GB @ 1150 / 6400 || 128GB A-Data SX900 + 1TB Toshiba 7200RPM || Corsair RM650 || Fractal 3500W

I have an A78M-E motherboard with an fm2+ socket. I want an APU because of the fm2+ socket, and also I basically only play retro/indie games. I feel that with an APU I can save money buy not having to buy a similar CPU (Say, a core i3) and a high end gpu. pcper did a nice video comparing a core i3 4330 and a gt 630 to the 7850k. I did not know about the A8-7650, though. I'll look into that.

Here's the video.

I looked at the A8-7650k. While they are similar in most areas compared to the a10-7850k, the a10 uses MUCH less power and has higher clock speeds. the a10 is only $20 more, so I'm going to stick with that.

The A10 does not use less power... don't trust CPUBoss. Ever.
