4790k bottleneck a 980ti?

Overclocked 5960X

For gaming, 5960X is slower than 4790K.

Are you guys really this dumb? No way, not even my 8350 bottlenecks it. The 4790k is faster in every way than my 8350.

You have about as much right to give computer advice as his friend does if you actually believe that your 8350 doesn't bottleneck a 980Ti after it's already been proved to bottleneck even a 970.

Cinders: - i7 4790K (4.5GHz) - Gigabyte Z97X-SOC - 16GB Klevv DDR3 1600MHz - EVGA GTX 980Ti ACX2.0+ (1548MHz Boost) - EVGA Supernova 850GS - NZXT H440 Orange/Black (Modified) -
Unnamed System: i5 4690K (4.2GHz) - MSI Z97I-AC - 8GB G.Skill DDR3 2400MHz - EVGA GTX 950 SSC - Raidmax Thunder V2 535W - Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX

lol miss-information: it's not like all the DX11 based games will auto-translate to DX12 code and take advantage of DX12 features...no, all the games that have come out up to this day and up to AT LEAST next hollidays will still be DX11 based games and they WILL still run like crap on AMD FX...only FUTURE games that will be developped FOR DX12 will be better...and those should hit the shelves somewhere starting i would assume mid 2016.

when did i mention auto-migration. I meant when games used DX12 as the standard

I mean in general. It's much harder to find a 5960X that can be overclocked to 4.8GHz than 4690K or 4790K. I've yet to see a 5960X reaches 5.0GHz.(except using extreme cooling, LN2)

i saw a couple of them doing this on review sites using watercooling

Thanks. But you have to admit they are more rare than in the case of 4790K.

true, but you can get these by shelling out £12K for 8Pack's SuperNova desktop

I'll say it again. 5960X is slower than 4790K in gaming in general for ordinary people.

My friend overclocked his 5960X to 6.2GHz. It's on a custom water cooling loop though.

On water? I'd prefer some proof.

4790K will kind of bottleneck the 980ti, Get a G3258 to remove this bottleneck ;).

seriously it won't

Lol now he's being like. I meant the 4690k. Im still doubting it would bottleneck too.

A 4690k would probably hold 2 980tis in sli without too many problems. Even if it wouldn't, a small OC would be plenty

Don't worry, People will keep asking,"Will my 4690K bottleneck 750Ti?".

1st_ Some games do use more than 4 cores so the 5960x has an advantage in BF4 for instance.

2nd_ a 5960X OC'd to 4.4Ghz has the same single threaded performance as 4790k. Owing to 4.6 to 4.7+ Ghz doesn't really matter as even 4Ghz isn't a bottleneck.

I'll see if I can get some pics from him, but he said it was slightly above 6GHz, so it's not exactly 6.3. He's running an Alienware X50 I think.

How can he be watercooling with an Alienware X51?

I think he took it apart and did it himself, but I'll make sure to ask him for some proof though, as I'm also a bit skeptical.

No just no why do people keep asking this.

Because people have no clue what the term actually means.

It's the bogeyman.

Or herpes.
