ok so i just built my pc and i have some questions. i have a asus x99-a motherboard, a corsair rm 1000watt psu, a r9 295x2 gpu, ballistix ram 16gb, 5820k cpu,

my question is this when putting my pc together the 8 pin power cable that saids cpu on it will only fit in my motherboard if i split it in to two 4 pin cables and only use the one 4 pin cable leaving the other just laying there but my motherboard has a 8 pin slot why will it not fit. and why would my psu not come with a cord that would have . side not with the 4 pin cable plug in to the 8 pin slot my pc is running

My board is pretty similar. I'm using the same cable which is labeled "CPU". I use 8pin then split the other so its only a 4 now. So for CPU 8pin and 4 pin. Just make sure you hook it up on the CPU/PCI on the PSU.

so are you able to overclock with it like this . and do you mean that you are only using a 4 pin in the 8 pin slot as well. also where can i get a 8 pin cord that will fit in that slot?

yes I am able to over clock. On my board the CPU has a 8 and 4 pin connections. I used the CPU cable. Then took another 8 pin, split one end so now its a 4 to 8 pin.  8 side into the PSU, 4 into the board

I just googled your board, all I see is a 8 pin. Your corsair PSU should come with a cable just for the CPU. No splitting required.
