Monitors turning off

My monitors have been turning off as of late. I updated to the latest drivers 353.06. I cannot make it happen as it seems to be random. either in game or on the desktop. the monitors go black and then say there is no signal going to the monitors. the pc is still running normally as I am usually in team speak and I can continue to talk to them. I have rolled back to the 352.86 drivers and the monitors went black just a few minutes in after installation/restart. I have no idea what to do at this point. is there a log file I can view which would give me some indication of why this is happening? should I update to the 353.60 drivers, or roll back even further? Id appreciate the help.

 yup. there is not signal being sent to the monitors. monitors say black.

I know it sounds excessive but can you reinstall Windows? Maybe use a different drive you have lying around and a Windows install thing there?

ya thats not happening because thats not the problem. like i said, everything is running fine when it happens. so either I got a pos 970, there are driver issues, or something more technical. but highly unlikely its windows.

I'm just saying, as a clean-slate type thing if you have a random HDD lying around like yours truly (well, more than one). 

 

If you can see things on screen then I suggest at least trying to use a restore point and going back to a time where all worked unless you've saved a lot of stuff on there that you don't want changed and can't back up for whatever reason. Also, in terms of log-type files you can use the Event Viewer and check system and Windows logs to see if it maybe says something about kernel power or something related.

not sure if related but i noticed i was having issues with my backups. this is the error.

 

 

I checked event viewer. I am aware how event viewer works and that not everthing is a problem. these are my findings that resulted when my screens went blank. 

 

 

as for the last two images i recieved about 54 errors and they alternated these two messages.

Possibly so when I updated. Do you think it is my issue? I don't use it and as such I can just remove it.

I'm pretty sure that error it gave you means Nvidia something. *Really helpful I know*

It sounds like you've already tried uninstalling everything from Nvidia already and reinstalling it... unless you haven't which might give you results. Also, does the same issue on occur on onboard graphics?

Yes, I've rolled back one update. And I have not tired onboard but that would not matter anyways as I would still need to get my GPU functional.

Well, I would at least suggest running off of onboard and if it has the same problem then we can eliminate the 970 being the issue.

I can confirm that using onboard I won't have the issue.

OK, well if your GPUs were working before drivers got switched around then I guess try those drivers. If it's not successful then return your 970

 

And I do still recommend reinstalling Windows no matter how painful it sounds...

No I have not tired it. I just know it because of how the issue occurs. Like I said, I can still do everything I just can't see what I am doing because the GPU stops sending the signal. I am going to roll back to January's drivers when I get home later today.

I have had somewhat the same problem sometimes when I update using the Geforce Experience, nowadays I do a clean install when I am updating.

Did you try entering safe mode and uninstalling all the Nvidia Drivers and reinstalling it?

I rolled everything back to a February release and so far things have been going well.

It's the same error, caused by the same problem. The date doesn't matter. But you're welcome.
