Gtx 980 or wait

So here is my question and I need some feedback. I know a guy who is selling an EVGA SC gtx 980 ACX 2.0 for 350. Should I go ahead and buy that and wait to watercool my graphics card until Pascal comes out, or save a little more and get the Galaxy HOF watercooled 980ti when it comes out. Here is what I'm currently running

PC:

Fractal Design Define R5

Asus X99 Deluxe

Intel 5930k (know a guy who works at intel so get a discount)

16gb Kingston HyperX Fury

Samsung evo 500gb ssd - main drive

Samsung evo 250gb ssd - games

Corsair SP120 x 2

PSU - EVGA supernova 1000w

Custom orange and black psu cables

Future: 3440 x 1440 curved ultrawide monitor.

The cpu is cooled by a custom loop and I plan on adding the graphics card (or two) when I get the opportunity.

Pascal the GPU will be a while. I'm not waiting for it. But I am waiting for Skylake because it's not long off and I don't have X99. If you do, don't wait for anything.

I was not aware you could get it for $350. You can do that because some 970's cost more than that

you talking about a used 980 for 350? cuz retail is still around 500 IIRC. 

 

It's kinda hard for the 980 to push regular 2560x1440 on brand new AAA games such as the Witcher 3 or AC Unity on Ultra settings. In other words I am already turning down some settings to do. With a 21:9 1440p monitor you have about 1/3rd more pixels so you'll need all the power you can get. For this reason I would most def get a 980 Ti if you are buying a GPU right now. If you can wait 1 year tho Pascal will be a huge upgrade.

The performance/price of the 980 isn't garbage and is actually pretty damn close to the 980. In fact an OC'd 980 performs at the same level as a stock 980 Ti.

Gigabyte might be the best option.

That's a 23% improvement.

16,000 fire strike is the score a stock 980 TI gets so it's no joke. 

 

Also the OC'd price to performance is about the same between the 980 and 980 TI.

I would get the gtx 980 once pascal comes out you may be able to sell it for $300 and then get a pascal card

Keep in mind not everybody likes to overclock.
