Hey,

I bought a new Linksys E1200 router because my old router died. I install it exacly as it said in the instructions, when it was completed I had wireless and wired connection but the wired connection was slow. When I did a speedtest it was about 1-2Mbps normally its 10Mbps. I tested it on wireless connection and am getting the 10Mbps.

I connected it directly to the modem and am getting my full connection. I have also tried different Ethernet Cables and its the same thing. I am not using an onboard network card I have a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. I dont think its the NIC since I can get the full connection from the modem alone.

I also have an USB Wireless LAN Card for the same computer and I can get the full connection from that using the router's wifi connection.

So am pretty sure its something to do with the router but am not sure what to do.

Does the router trottle wired connection speeds?

With the way it sounds, it's almost like the router itself has a hardware defect. Because you troubleshot the heck out of that thing in every instance I'd recommend, and it's still having the same issue. May want to try exchanging the router for a replacement and see if that fixes it. The only other thing I can think of before resorting to that is maybe one of the settings just got changed somehow, and ya could try doing a hard reset using the router's reset button so it goes back to factory default.

Well I factory reset the router twice and it still didn't improve the Wired connection. I also turned off WMM in the setting which is for improving  Wi-fi multimedia. And that didn't work. I still think that there is some setting to turn off but am not sure what it is.
