Question for the GTX 980 Ti owners?

Hey guys,

just wanted to ask you about your experiences with your 980Ti so far. I've read some rumors about TDR issues/driver instabilities on the net. Is it just the regular teething problems, would you buy now or still wait a bit?

i have the kernel display driver issue but im hoping that is resolved with future updates, seems to happen while browsing chrome. other than that it is really good, ran every game in ultra with no problems and looks amazing :)

Issues still exist but this latest hotfix (353.38) seems to have fix some stability issues but lowered performance just a tad bit.

I have a potato!

I have not yet hit an issue with my 980 ti, and I'm very happy with it's performance.

That's a single 980ti for 1440p you're running right? I'm currently using 2 780s for 1440p and I'm looking into having one card(tired of SLI)... how's that single 980ti working in 1440p? Able to run every game(including latest like Witcher 3) ultra smooth 60 fps? I've seen some benchmarks that runs games even above the 60 fps but I prefer to ask a real user of it cause sometimes things get exaggerated in the internet, and I wanted to know the real life performance in gaming.

Don't hope keep nagging, the 980 was overpriced to begin with, more reason to keep nagging at nvidia for fixes.

Tell me about it I'm about to spend 835USD on the air cooled version.

yes it is a single card. i played witcher 3 but didnt have the fps counter on to give you an accurate number but it looked amazing, no stutter no noticeable drops etc, games i have had fps counter on are bf3 and 4 and they run mostly towards the  100fps sometimes over. and tomb raider 2013 again mostly up towards the 100fps again noticing drops to around 60 in scenes using that hair physics stuff. its great, you wont be disappointed. however i am running it on a gsync ips panel so i have no need for any aa or vsync

I'll be happy when I can hit the "Ultra" button in <Insert arbitrary game here, especially GTA V> and will get constant 60fps @ 1080p (dual screen where one is used for gaming the second is used for desktop applications/browsing while gaming).

@Arokhantos: CPU is an i7-3770k. As I said I'm about to spend - the money, I don't own the card yet so I dunno if I'll be able to max the GPU out. At the moment I'm still on a 560 Ti/2GB, and just tired of lowering details to barely get 25-30 FPS in newer titles. So I'm out for a replacement where I can hit the ultra button without worrying about FPS =).

970 or maaaybe 980 are what you're looking for... at 1080p a 980ti seems a bit exaggerated. I would get a 1440p monitor, unless that's what you're aiming for later.

Just saying, is your money after all you do as you please. :)

You were about 5 mins. too late I DID IT xD, just couldnt resist. It's gonna be an "EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti Superclocked+ ACX 2.0+" - and no I think before I'll upgrade my displays the Pascal refresh will be out - by then I'll prolly be going for 2160p straight.

I have the same CPU and my Card is on it's way^^ The CPU wont bottleneck from what I have heard... The last generations of Intel CPU's aren't really worth upgrading for. I'd recommend getting a good cooler and oc'ing the crap out of that bad boy

Yeah the difference to the 4770k is not that high - they mainly increased the graphics capabilities. There is a Noctua NH-D14 already sitting on top of it already right now ;)

Awesome - same card too? Lemme know when its there and report your experiences - I'm really curious because the shop I ordered at didn't have them in stock atm - so I'll probably have to wait a couple of days till I can hold mine in hands.

I have no driver issues with my Titan X's. Sucks the 980 Ti's are having problems with the drivers. Strange because it is just a cut down version of the Titan X. GM200.

Yes indeed, appearantly the latest hotfix does help from what I've read. But yeah just as you said its pretty strange that this similar cards behave differently. Maybe it has to do with the slighly different boost behaviour.

I read about that on EVGA site. I'm still waiting for the Hybrid kit to come back in stock. I might end up buying the 980 Ti version of the upgrade kit. So I would have a Titan X that looks like a 980 Ti Hybrid lol. :P

I'm not so sure if thats a good idea because of your additional 6GB memory. Could be that the Ti cooler doesn't fit the Titan X board layout.

@VagabonWraith: Ah okay awesome.

@Accursed Entity: Yes I sincerely hope so =)

Out of curiosity - does anyone of you guys know of the nVidia Control Panel offers the possibility to configure the dynamic power/temperature/boost Target of the newer cards or if I'll need 3rd party/vendor tools (i.e. Afterburner) to configure these? What do you use/recommend?
