Yes, as long as they're both the same GPU and have the same VRAM, you can supply the power and have enough 8x lanes. And I can't be sure of the latter two.

When you SLI a 4GB card with a 2GB card, there will only be 2GB usable, but it will stil run, right?

PC SPECS: CPU: Intel Core i7 3770k @4.4GHz - Mobo: Asrock Extreme 4 (Z77) - GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 680 Twin Frozr 2GB - RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2x4GB (8GB) 1600MHz CL8 + 1x8GB - Storage: SSD: Sandisk Extreme II 120GB. Why if you have EVGA would you add on Asus out of all brands...unless you don't OC your cards.

Nothing wrong with Asus?

You can often find them cheaper also.

You can't OC them much though...do you know much about GPUs? No offense but it doesn't seem like it. I said if you don't want to OC then Asus is fine because it doesn't OC well. Especially when EVGA which he has is at the top of Nvidia brands with Gigabyte.

I can now see why so many certified people leave this forum

Yeah.. I know nothing

I have owned a Strix 750Ti and it did overclock well, the main feature is the fact that the fans can be left off at low temps but this can be turned off. The fans also allow for better air distribution which is a marketing thing but appears to work very well. Since overclocking is so easy its safe to assume 99% of people on this foum would want to overclock at least a tad.

Also overclocking results mostly down to luck due to the silicon lottery, nothing is guaranteed.

You make yet another normative statement, and I hate to differ but in many cases I disagree as it comes down to usage requirements.

Furthermore, the fact that OP is choosing not to pick the same card to SLI likely means he either got a good deal or cannot find an EVGA card.

Either way a best answer has been chosen and I see nothing to be gained by arguing.

I have talked to quite a few people about their Asus 970 and they say their mistake was getting Asus because they OC it much

1. That's only the 970, other Asus cards are fine. The Strix just has a power delivery issue.

2. Even with that, even on this forum some of the highest OCed 970s are Asus cards.

Name the people with it then? All I have seen is EVGA people with the high OC because from what I have seen few have the G1 Gaming listed with the OC.

If all you have seen is those with EVGA cards then why comment on Asus? No person in their right mind would bother listing the people with the card, id guess there are many though.

Gheez man just learn to accept you're wrong.

Its not an issue, and im not trying to cause a problem but id rather correct you so the OP gets the correct information.

@M_Shane I think our work is done haha

You misunderstood me. I was replying to you saying people on this forum, and when they post or have it in the signatures the high OC for 970 are EVGA and Gigabyte. Like I said I have talked to quite a few people and they said the mistake in their purchase was buying the Asus Strix because it doesn't OC well. That's why this thread being about 970 I said that, so obviously you aren't able to put 2 and 2 together. And you claimed on this forum that so many people with 970 high OC was Asus yet you guess there are many in your next reply? Your story keeps changing...So I guess learn to accept you are wrong? Or that you can't interpret information? And "correcting me" (which you aren't) isn't even doing anything since he doesn't follow the topic and marked this solved. Anyways if you are done with this so am I.

So narrow minded and arrogant, at least that's all you've really come across as :D

You guessed about how many people have said it does not OC well, and I guessed as to how many people had the card. Saying 'quite a few' is no more helpful than me saying 'id guess' My story has been solid and has not changed one bit from my first post which you avoided by making a very broad and meaningless statement. I stand by my initial statement which I will not repeat as its a few posts up.

That's what I said in my first bulky reply but you keep replying and twisting words.

You claim not to want to start an argument/problem and then I say I am done with this if you are but yet you come back and insult me? Hypocrite. This is all I am replying to because I am done arguing with you over Asus 970 cards which you don't even have.
