Hi all,

I'm just in the process of gathering information to build a home NAS server. Right now Im thinking of doing RAID 5 with 4 2TB drives. As far as I know that gives me roughly 6TB.

Im thinking of using a U-NAS NSC-800 http://www.u-nas.com/product/nsc800.html. The reason for going with this is so I can expand the space in the future.

Im also thinking of going with an Intel Atom build. I havent done much research into which motherboards will fit in this e.t.c. And also going with may be WD Reds 2TBs.

It will end up being a linux based NAS.

But my question is more towards the SAS controller. What are some of the reliable and affordable SAS controllers out there with both 4 port and 8 port ? When I mean affordable the price tag should be between $500 and $1000 ! ... Please note that this is for a home NAS server and not a business grade one. So I want to keep a balance between reliability and affordability.

Thanks in advance.
