Trouble Installing Windows 8.1?

Go to solution Solved by Jakeman797,

its a bit old, but i have upgraded it a bit. There's only 2 gig of ram haha

all i know is it has pentium d in it

Windows 8.1 core 64 bit will not work with Pentium Ds. You will have to use windows 8.1 core 32 bit.

Hey guys!

So I'm trying to install windows 8.1 core on my older desktop (for just word and schoolwork, got a gaming laptop covered for those purposes) and it says that i cannot install because i do not have PreFetchW. Do any of you know how to fix / bypass this error?

Thanks!

will this solve it?

unless this pc is ancient, it should be capable of running a 64 bit OS (if you have like only 2gb of ram, then it would be recommended to install a 32bit os, as they tend to use a bit less ram)

then you might want to install the 32bit version, as on an old netbook we have that has only 1gb of ram, a 64bit os will max out the ram just idling, let alone with chrome running

I'm fairly sure its just called "Windows 8"

The core version of windows 8.1, or the base version of windows 8.1
