Last night R9 270x died just before finishing a quest on Skyrim.

The screen flickered on and off before showing blue bars and then turning off completely. Turned it back on to find solid red bars overlaying the start up menu after pressing enter the screen went full red with a weird pixel affect. then the computer restarted (Would have pictures but phone is out of battery).

Anyway after a little research pretty sure my GPU died and now i need a new one (this is where i think you guys can help). Would it be more sensible to wait while and see what happens to the price of R9 200 series within a week or so, or should i just get a cheap card to see me though long enough till i can earn enough to get a upgrade possibly R9 290/ R9 280?

Also any good cheap cards i should look out for, last card was a R9 270x 2GB Sapphire and that handled most of my games with ease. that should give a somewhat good indication as to what performance i'm kinda used too.  (I live in Australia so cards are a bit more expensive here then in US or Canada).

buy r9 290 now, before stock runs out. it's great value at the moment. (make sure your psu is above 550w though)

Oh ok didn't think of that thanks for the help stconquestill try contact Sapphire tomorrow though i don't know how much it would cost to send them the card back but i defiantly see if its worth a shot.

Probably around $10-$20, they pay for the return.
