Good MB for Pentium G3258 and 280x/380/960

Hey Guys, just wondering what a good motherboard is for a G3258 that will be good for OC. Right now i'm thinking the MSI z97-Guard Pro. :)

Most Z97 motherboards will be fine for overclocking. I'd only really go for higher end boards if there are features you want or if you're looking for an extreme overclock.

You should be fine for 4.4+GHz with any old Z97 board.

Just go with guard pro,G43 or U3 basically no difference between those boards

I would say anything that is Z97 within your budget will be fine, a motherboard will not bottleneck anything, and a 280x is a great fit for that CPU, just be aware that some games will not run on anything less than a Core i3 because they haven't been optimised for dual core CPU's, and while a Core i3 is a dual core, it has Hyper-Threading which gives it almost but not quite quad core performance.

I would personally say get the MSi Z97 Guard Pro as long as it has the features you need.

And no, do not get an APU, get the G3258 and save up for a better CPU when you can, from the G3258 you could go all the way up to a 4790K which would be an awesome upgrade.

Normally I would say get the APU, but the stronger single core performance will be an advantage with a dedicated GPU, whereas an APU would only hold back the dGPU.

Stop recommending cheap FM2 mobos. Please stop, I don't know this mindset on people suggesting shit fm2 mobos. These CPUs eat 95W and 1.47V on average when overclocked. It's not like Intel where you can put 3+1VRM without headsink and be happy.

A88XM-PLUS at least, A88Xm-Pro recommended.
