Hi! I want to apologise for my last post. I was in a bad mood.

Anyway, I'm wondering if a 980Ti will be a good card in 2018. By then, I will get a completely new rig. 4K will be the standard. I'm going to game in 1440p and 4K (separate monitors), depending on how intense the game is. Is the 980Ti going to hold up until the year I become an adult? (Using my own ~$3000 for this, by the way. I'm not a spoiled little brat.) 2018 is 3 more GPU generations ahead. I'll probably get a new rig in autumn (born in October), so 4. 980ti, 780ti, 680ti, 580ti, 480ti. If the performance increase per generation stays about the same and QHD and UHD don't cause any issues, it should be about where a decently overclocked 480 is right now. That's still a decent card, but not an amazing card. I can only do one GPU because I'm going with a tiny mITX case, and nobody can stop me. :P I could probably upgrade in a few years, but I'd like to be able to save myself the money and get a new rig as soon as possible after this one is through. I don't really need to tell you about the other specs, they'll be fine.

A lot of current graphics cards will last till then, but what really matters is if you are ok with turning down superficial settings like aa down...

Being smart with the settings can greatly prolong the lifespan of a graphics card, as many of the very demanding settings like aa contribute little visually
