Tell me what you think

42069x

I would recommend getting a power supply with a higher wattage. If you get a 500w psu then it won't be efficient.  You could downgrade your graphics but its your choice really.

500w for 290x is extremely close. Not recommended. 600w is much better.

550W or preferably 600W. This will be a close call with a 500W PSU.

if you're cutting it that close, look at the power supply and check what lines your loading. the 12volt line has a amp limit, you may or may not be exceeding it.

PSUs degrade over time, and PPC is very conservative with their power requirements. yes, it will probably work. now is it the best? maybe not.

not saying your right or wrong, but just stuff to think about

My question, does it make a difference? I mean the psu has enough wattage to support it but, if Idk if i can fit in a 550 in for under 700

Your PSU will be under more load, and make more heat/noise then otherwise. id recommend against it, but you SHOULD be fine

So everyone is aware that the 4460 may not even work with the h81 board without a bios update? What if it ships with an old bios? The board is now useless to him. I always reccomend H97 for this reason.

With a 290x he needs a 600 watt PSU

The H81 and B85 boards are not compatible without an update with the 4460. Unless the update has been done before u get it the board is useless to u.
