Someone, anyone, please, HELP!

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Thank you so much :) I really appreciate it. But I have one last question. Do you recommend me using this thing, or a fan controller? Now I know how to do all the fan stuff and I can do all the cable thingies now. But I'm thinking about this or a fan controller. (Price doesn't matter BTW) Thanks in advance!!!!!

Well, they're more or less the same thing really, or at least they fulfil the same purpose. You feed power into the controller via molex, it distributes it to the fans... If you're not concerned about price, I'd have to say a fan controller. That way, you can at least control the speed of the fans through the controller it's self, rather than having to stick with one speed and mess about with molex connectors if you want to increase or decrease the speed. Plus they look pretty sweet.

Cheapest option is a molex to 3pin adapter, best option IMO is a fan controller.

I'm building my first PC right now. But I noticed that my motherboard only has 2 slots that you connect your fans to (not including the CPU Cooler). And I have 4 case fans right now. And someone told me that I have to buy a Molex to connect my case fans to my PSU. But how exactly do I do that? And what kind of Molex thingy do I buy?

I want a gaming PC that can run all game 1080p 60FPS!! But unfortunately, I don't have money and I'm too young to have a job XD

It's an adapter that connects to a molex connector on your power supply(power supply might label it as peripheral). The other end is a 3 pin connector for the fans(the adapter will probably have multiple leads for connecting more than one fan) - however, the power supply will probably make them run at full speed and it'd be better to purchase a simple fan controller to control them.

Amazon has them , they're pretty easy to find and cheap. They can be used to connect your fans directly to the power supply, and you need them because most psus don't come with the right format natively.

The Sycthe Kaze Station should be good for this. I did a user Review about it a while back.

Thanks for all the help guys! I really appreciate it! IT helped me A LOT! But I have something to ask again. Where do I put the Molex thingy on my PSU? And will it really make my fans go at full throttle? If so, how do I make it go slower and quieter?

Do you have a modular or non modular power supply? And yes, I believe so. You would need a fan controller.

dear god, do not get a molex adapter. You will have no control over your fans, and they will rev full speed, making it noisy as hell.

Buy a pwm splitter, and your golden. only downside is that you will only be able to change all of them at one, not one at a time, at different speeds.

You can change the voltage of the adapter by swapping the pins around:

Voltage%20Molex.jpg

12V will run it at full speed, 7V slower, and 5V even slower but some fans may not run off of 5V...

7V pin position

You can buy 12V, 7V and 5V adapters, so just choose if you want to run it slower than it's full RPM and by the corresponding adapter to save you messing with it.

Thanks dude! I'm thinking of buying this or buying a fan controller. I already know how to connect the fan controller and make it work. So where do I plug the big thing in? I know that the small ones are for the fans. So do I plug the big one to the PSU or the MoBo? And what slot do I plug it in? I'm a complete newbie to PC building so please, bare with me :)

On your PSU, there should be quite a few of molex connectors, will look something like this:

That big one on the adapter plugs straight into one of those, then you just plug the fan into the little 3 pin ones.
