Is GuildWars 2 worth buying?

I was thinking about buying this game because it looks fun and it doesn't cost money to play (other than the price of the game). Some of my friends own it, but say it gets boring after a while. I was wondering if anyone in here could give me their opinions on the subject. I know its really all about personal preference, but it never hurts to see what other people think.

Leveling for the first time is fun, man playing 100+ hours in the first week was awesome, but the end game is kind of lacklustre. It's a good game don't get me wrong, I have played more than 300 hours. There just doesnt seem to be much longevity to it. If you have friends to screw around with and go dungeoning with it can be a lot of fun though.

The first few weeks were just complete AWESOME! The first say 150 hours were really enjoyable but the problem I found was that after all this, it rapidly became quite boring. There is some great PVP and open world PVP action in the form of World V World and indeed it is just buy to play which  is a plus and I would say it's worth a look. It's a really good MMO that does heaps of new stuff but imo despite all this, it became a little boring towards the end. I tried leveling an alternate character but couldn't really catch back into it. I do know that there are heap loads of new content being released all the time though.

Its a blast and the end game is basically the whole game. Its easy to get into and easy to continue.

I played for three months or so when it launched, and I recommend it. It does have limited content, but they said it themselves, don't except it to be like other MMOs that force you into an endless grind, in GW2 you are meant to play and enjoy the high quality limited content like in single player game. You bought that content and you have the right to play it whenever you want, so there's no subscription. When new "major" content is added, in the form of an expansion, you'll get to decide whether to buy it or not.

So play it, and when you reach the end and have enjoyed everything then drop the game instead of pointlessly farming the same instance over and over again for items that'll be replaced a month later. If you do want an end-game grind then there are legendary items for you to farm.

I've seen lots of people recommending this game, but I personally don't find it that good at all. I played for about 1.5 months and quitted after that.

I can't recommend it with the camera still not fixed.  I will not buy it til this issue is totally taken care of.

its an mmo... you need a crew to hang out with or it will get boring 

 

running around exploring and experiencing the world is a blast and their limited time content is awesome how it changes around.  super adventure box their 8 bit mini game was some of the funnest most challenging stuff my friends and I have done

it's an amazing mmorpg game, although! imo it's only fun with FRIENDS. i played it with mates and had a blast.
playing it by yourself is rather boring. the world vs world is great. simple game mechanics such as reviving allies and helping people will give you exp will really encourage team play.
although, game play gets VERY repetitive. it starts turning into a hack and slash mmo game after a while. and it's also very easy to level up,

i got up to lvl 59 and quit because of repetitive game play and i didnt have much friends to play it with.
