Dear LTT Forum,

I'm want to get in some casual/serious pc gaming. Now i have a laptop wich can run games at 20 FPS at the lowest settings and I want to step up a bit.

My budget is 1250 EURO's (including monitor). (I live in the Netherlands everything is more expensive here then in Canada or the US).

I want to play at 1080P with future upgrade to 2 or 3 monitors and i want to be future proof for some time.

And i want a cube case (m-ATX) because i think it looks badass :P.

My build so far:

Case: Thermaltake Core V21 (64,90 EUR)

Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z97M Killer (144,90 EUR)

CPU: Intel Core I5-4690K @4.0 GHz (251,99 EUR)

CPU Cooler: LEPA Aquachanger 240 (79,90 EUR)

GPU: GTX 970 or R9 Fury (reference)

RAM: Kingston HyperX 8 GB DDR3-1600 Savage (56,90 EUR)

SSD: Mushkin Chronos G2 240 GB (96,90 EUR)

PSU: Sharkoon WPM600 Semi-modular (59,90 EUR)

Monitor: LG 22MP65VQ 21.5 Inch (129 EUR)

Oh, and I want to keep the red-black colorscheme.

Do you guys have any advice on this build? Should i invest in an I7 or wait for new GPU's.

Thanks in advance

You could go for a cheaper mobo,

except for that, a fury would be just under 2x the performance of a 970, you can't really compare the two.

Where are you buying ? Pcpartpicker isn't good for EU

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

A cheaper mobo would me a B85 mobo. I can't overclok with it good and it has some other features.

There is nothing between 75 EURO's and 144 EURO's that is black or black-red and can overclock.

Pcpartpicker isn't an option it's way cheaper if i build my pc there but does not ship to the Netherlands.

I don't want to burn my CPU and i want the lifespan as long as possible. I'll overclock it to 4.00GHz.

MotherboardASRock Fatal1ty Z97M Killer (144,90 EUR)

CPU: Intel Core I5-4690K @4.0 GHz (251,99 EUR)

CPU Cooler: LEPA Aquachanger 240 (79,90 EUR)

GPU:R9 Fury ~400€  ( If needed step down to a R9 390 / GTX 970 to pay for the next upgrades )

RAM: Kingston HyperX 8 GB DDR3-1600 Savage (56,90 EUR)

SSD: Mushkin Chronos G2 240 GB (96,90 EUR)

PSU: Sharkoon WPM600 Semi-modular (59,90 EUR)  ( I would get one from a more reputable brand )

Monitor: LG 22MP65VQ 21.5 Inch (129 EUR) ( I would spend a bit more on this to get a 24' one )

The i5-4690K has a similar power to i7-4790K, while the only difference is that the i7-4790K is faster in some games. I think you can just hold on to your i5-4690K, because you are on a budget, and the i7 isn't going to make a big difference to your 4690K.

If you are playing games in the dark (just my assumption), you can go invest a little amount of money and buy yourself the BenQ RL2455HM. It is bigger, and it has the option to make your darker visions in-game brighter, enhancing your vision in-game (brightness of your monitor doesn't affect the option).
