My system details can be found in my sig. The 8GB RAM was of Corsair Vengeance Dual Channel kit. Recently I faced a RAM failure where system would not post if one stick of RAM is inserted. The same issue in another system also. So RAM was confirmed failed as I also got random restarts and stuff. Since it was a kit both RAM was sent for RMA with the help of a nearby PC shop. They provided me with a single stick of 4GB RAM. They system was working fine for three weeks. Yesterday my RAM arrived. I took their stick back and exchanged it with mine. I got a brand new sealed 8 GB kit. I came back installed it. Reset CMOS and after powering on system after BIOS screen it reaches a point where it shows the processor, the correct amount of memory and things and it shows CMOS time date wrong. Then stays there. If I reset and go to BIOS a black screen appeared with a mouse cursor which doesn't respond. The single beep which used to come when accessing BIOS can still be heard. After repeating this three times I was able to see the BIOS page. It showed everything perfect. Dual channel. 8 GB. Processor name .etc. but it remains frozen. The mouse pointer doesn't respond neither the keyboard does. What should I do ? Kindly help me.

Either a malfunctioning board or incorrectly XMP profiled RAM.

I tried resetting CMOS and it shows RAM speed as 1333 MHz like normal. Only after XMP is enabled I get 1600 MHz. Also system was working fine until yesterday on their single stick of ram. I can't blame ram also cuz ram is detected perfectly

Also the board was RMAed once thinking it had issues and the same board came back without any change. Only after that the RAM was found defective. The system used to work for the past month. I used to play games and stuff

Are you booting into the right mode? RAID, IDE, or AHCI?

I reset CMOS. So it should be boot into AHCI. I tried booting without HDD. Still no luck. I tried quick BIOS flash feature. The utility pops up but can't choose or move anything. Would a ps2 keyboard work ? If yes I can borrow from friend. But the thing is the system was working fine yesterday

Sometimes system CMOS gets compromised. A PS2 keyboard might work.

After retrying again and again I got to reach a point with a blinking underscore. I waited and after a few seconds the system booted into windows. But then artefacts came into screen. I went to display properties and it showed two monitors even though I only have one. One generic monitor and second one my real monitor. I changed to my monitor and applied. Generic monitor disappeared and computer got fine. Then to prevent further issues I re flashed bios and it completed successfully. After it asked to restart and I did. Upon reaching bios screen issue came back. It is just frozen there. Pressed reset button and it just came back to the old place of blinking underscore and is staying there now. What to do now ? When I access BIOS still the black screen and the unresponsive cursor

This might sound a bit mental, but you could try using a different monitor or a TV to post it. This is really an odd set of problems.

I am pretty sure monitor is not the cause as the system was working just a few hours before installing ram. I created a new thread with updated content.http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/392274-ram-issue-again/
