Laptop microphone not working

So I installed Windows 8.1 on a laptop I took for my vacation but for some reason the mic isn't working even with correct drivers.

My laptop is a Dell Vostro 3360. I tried the drivers from the dell website, I even tried the drivers suggested from Driver Identifier. There is no sound coming out. I have tried skype, sound recorder, but no microphone is coming out - with or without headset.

Hardware ID is HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_1013&DEV_4213&SUBSYS_1028055C

I have no clue what to do. Microphone is turned on and enabled in windows, skype and the Drivers software. Any suggestions are welcome

well there are a lot of different factors.

 

first thing I'd try is a clean install of the OS.

yeah I kinda know that.. that doesnt really help me now does it.. I gave as much info as I could

doing a clean install is the first step I'd take, like I said... I doubt you've already done that.

can't really do it since like I said, I am on a vacation. Internet is too bad to download windows
