Update: added a better mouse and mechanical keyboard

In case your wondering why I couldn't get a 970 in, I spent some of the budget on a 1440p monitor. A monitor is a long term investment so you want a good one.

I'm not sure about the PSU. I'm planning on OC'ing so I need some room.

Well if youre going to try and OC then make sure you get a better cooler, the stock ones arent really built for higher temps.

Well, you have like 210 watts free at this point, think that's more than enough for OC'ing.

PCPartPicker only looks at the TDP, it takes nothing else into consideration. A better PSU for the build I'm planning would be around 650W. But thank you so much for your recommendations, it really helps.

If youre using a mAtx board why not go for a smaller case? like the Air 240 or 300D

I have a 4690k running at 4.1 on the stock cooler, and the temps have just hit 70 while gaming(Mind you, it's maxed CS:GO and LoL....might tune it down.)

What sort of temps are in the room?

Fan config?

Some of the smaller cases tend to hold in heat whereas the bigger allow for better heat dissapation

Spec-02.  Room temperature, it's like 25 degrees, give or take a few, right now, my computer is in between a ottoman, an end table, a wall and a freezer.

Thats pretty nice! The temps where I live are always so hot that I really couldn't overclock with a stock cooler.

so you have upgrading path to hier end z87/97 and more expansion for stuff like SLI or crossfire with network cards etc...

If you went with an mAtx build there are usually (if not all) that can support two cards in SLI or Crossfire and still have room for a network card- there are some that are on every platform including x99 z97/87. The only problem I ran into was trying to find the right board because there aren't too many mAtx boards, but it makes choosing one easier!
