So basically, from a cold boot, my bios reads that my CPU (AMD 4350) is at around 40 C. Then I go into Windows and load up HWMonitor reading around 15 C and Speedfan at 20 C.

So basically I am extremely confused on what exactly the CPU temp is.

It is the AMD stock cooler so I don't think Speedfan and HWMonitor is right, but it is at a constant 100% fan speed with no overclocks so I wouldn't think that the Bios is right either.

MSI 970A-G43

Get MSI control center, Thats the only software that works for monitoring the CPU and Motherboard temps on my A55m E33.

This is not just a "problem" with the FX CPUs. To report inaccurate temps at idle is common with other AMD chip families as well. The calibration is skewed to be accurate at the high end of the scale where it counts like a semi truck scale would be. A semi truck scale is probably not going to be accurate in weighing a first class mail envelope but will be when you put a truck on it.

So what should I do to get accurate temps? Because my cooler is at 100% all the time, I was hoping to get something to control the speed based on temps. But thats kinda hard if I cant get accurate readings.

MSI control center does Exactly that.

Your BIOS is reporting the "IHS" temps while other softwares tend to report temps from the cores of your CPU. That's what it does for me. It was confusing at first but I got used to it.

HWMonitor is great it shows evrything you ever wanted in a minimalistic fasion

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Bottom line: your CPU temp values will be reported inaccurately at the lower end of the temp spectrum as it is the nature of the beast. Design flaw. It is only accurate at higher temperatures. Does not matter what software is used as they will all be "lied to" by the sensor.
