970 vs 390?

I'm building my first pc in a few weeks. Nervous as shit but anyways do you think I should go for an AMD R9 390 or a GTX 970? Most likely I'll get the Asus or MSI versions of the cards. Thanks!

 

UPDATE: Leaning towards the Asus Strix R9 390. ALl the prices I'm finding for the 390 are maybe $10 more than the 290x with better performance and VRAM.

I would agree with some people above and say you should grab a 290x, they go for like, 2 rupees now.

390 > 290x (if cheaper/you use openCL) >< 970 (if cheaper/its a really small system)

but the jump from 290x to 390 really isnt worth a couple hundred

also I would go MSI do superior support

290X because there cheap as fuck and equivalent to a 390X just a lower clock speed and half the vram.

I am also building new PC and don't know what GPU chose.

some specs:

 

Case - NZXT Source 530

- NZXT Aperture M 5.25"  Card Reader - Black

- NZXT HUE RGB LED Controller - Black

- DVD-rom (from older pc)

 

Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 - AMD 990X

CPU: AMD FX-6300 VISHERA (i will overcloock)

CPU cooling Coolermaster Seidon 120V V2

RAM:  Kingston HyperX Fury Red 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866

GPU: ? ? ? ? ?

Powersource: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 B2 (most likely)

SSD:  Kingston SSDNow V300 - 120GB

3x HDD (already have in current pc)

Fans: 5x - Airen RedWings120

 

Monitor: BenQ RL2455HM

 

so.... i will mostly play Battlefield, GTA 5 with mods, Fallout and Skyrim with SHITLOAD of mods...i mean like a LOT! and Star Citizen wich i think will be most demanding game with all those damn nice textures....

 

question is what to buy: Gigabyte R9 290x / Gigabyte G1 gaming 970 / Gigabyte G1 gaming r9 390. I am from Czech republic and here they cast literally the same money (10 500kč = 430usd)

 

so what do you think ? ? ?

If you are going to get a 290X then do it quickly because stock probably won't last long.
