SSD questions

Go to solution Solved by Sakkura,

The smallest capacity of a given SSD model (Crucial MX200, Samsung 850 Evo etc.) will typically be somewhat slower, but not something that will make a really noticeable difference to the boot time.

Um. No? Get a 256gb Samsung 850 EVo or ?Crucial BX100.

Does having more space on a ssd effect boot times getting a 50gb ssd and if it doesn't probably gonna go to a 200gb ssd

Sometimes. It's often noticeable in larger drives that you get a faster experience. Some drives, like the one from OCZ, are two smaller drives combined to get a bigger capacity and run faster. Can't remember which of the OCZ drives I'm talking about.

Generally you shouldn't get anything smaller than 120GB anyways even if you are on a budget. You can get cheap A-DATA and OCZ drives.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

You can pick up 120GB SSDs for pence (or cents, for you lot across the pond, or across the smaller pond to my west) compared to what they cost say 2 years ago. Size won't matter, what will matter is that you're using SATA II (3GB/s) or SATA III (6GB/s) and your SSD has good read/write speeds (for instance, the previously mentioned Samsung EVOs have something like 500mbps (ish, I think?!) read/write.

Main / Corsair 220T / RM750 / B450 Tomahawk Max / R5 3600 / 16GB 3200 / GTX 1660 Super

2nd / Precision T1700 / i7-4770 / 16GB 1600 / RX 570 8GB
