This rig is mainly used as a central storage unit for my gaming rig and laptop. It also stores any recorded footage from games i record. The rig is also used to store VM's and as a game server host. I realize the r9 280x is overkill for a server computer, it was left over from a build a year or two ago and rather than buying something else, i put it in. Same goes for the 500gb WD drive. Through my university, i get free copies of all Microsoft OS's and most Microsoft software as well.
