Trying to record csgo with fraps, get 300 fps then when I use  fraps it drops to 30 fps randomly and it gets super laggy.

i5 4690k (overclocked)

G1 970 (overclocked)

700W G2

250gb ssd, 500gb hdd 5400rpm

I tried putting the recorded files on the ssd, same problem, tried putting the files on the HDD, same problem again.

It randomly drops to 30 and makes the game and video stutter like an earthquake.

I tried putting it down to 30 fps recording and the same issue persists.

Fraps is shit. Plus I am pretty sure from the little information you gave the problem is from how you made your settings to record.

I'd think the HDD would be the issue.

I myself have an i5 4690K @ stock and gigabyte gtx 970 g1 gaming @ stock and can record at 60fps perfectly fine to my 7200rpm 750gb wd black 2.5" hdd while also recording my voice with audacity :/

Try disabling your overclocks to see if that fixes it, if not then perhaps check your drivers to make sure they are up to date?

Or make sure that in fraps you don't have "Lock framerate while recording" or "Force lossless RGB capture" enabled as those might be an issue if they are enabled for you.

I also have my loop buffer length set to 30 seconds in the movies tab. (where those two settings also are)

You probably have the wrong settings in fraps, personally I would go download OBS since it is pretty simple to use, and probably works a whole lot better.

Yeah I have OBS, forgot it could record ingame, I used to have the same issue with OBS but I changed the resolution settings or something and fixed it.
