Hi! I bought a used PC and it's working great. (Except for the fact that the seller didn't include a harddrive cage.) It came with a fan controller that is installed at the back, where you'd find your video outputs. It's just a knob that you turn left and right to adjust the speed of all fans connected. It has a connector for power and a connector for the fans. The seller has wired 4 of my 5 case fans together. As I was unable to get the fan controller to work, I just hooked all of these fans directly to the motherboard. That means that one of my fans don't spin at all, as it's not connected. I'm pretty sure it's my only intake fan, but it's fine, as I operate the PC with the side panel off for now.

Now, how would I connect all 5 fans together and how would I make use of the fan controller?

I can't include any new photos, as I'm not at home. I do have some older photos, but they might not be

sufficient.

The first photo was a comparison shot between my new and old PCs.

The last two pictures are from Blocket.se, the site where I purchased the PC. It didn't come with a PSU or GPU, but I already had those parts.

Ummm... so which one is the new PC? The big one in the Fractal design case? Which one isn't spinning?

You shouldn't connect all fans to a single header, since it also has it's maximum power delivery. You can group identical fans together using Y-Splitters.

So that built in fan controller was connected to the Power supply, right? In this case, all fans that are connected to it should be spinning whne powering on the PC.

If you want to use the motherboard headers, do the same as above, use single headers for single fans or group identical fans together with a Y-Splitter.

who cares...

I apologise for the post being incomplete when I first posted it. I have added more pictures now. That small PC was my old PC, it was a comparison shot.

If the controller no long works use a fan splitter cable, £1 from auction sites, so you can control more than one fan from the motherboard header.

If your BIOS supports it set the fans to ramp up as the temperatures do.

I never said it doesn't work, I just don't know how to wire this part of my PC. I apologise for the lack of clarity.

The controller could be one of a few types but in essence it is a fan splitter with a variable resistor incorporated.

It will take power from either a SATA or MOLEX plug from the PSU or it could connect directly to the motherboard via a fan header.

Without getting clear pictures it  is difficult to assist further.

Thanks for the info. I've sad "Sod it" and just connected three (it was 3/4, not 4/5) of the fans to the only fan header on the motherboard. I did this with a thing that connected the three fan connectors into one connector, a 3-pin. It came with the PC. I left the others outside. It doesn't really matter now, since I'm getting a new case now.

An Aerocool DS Cube White - Windowed

I can still put it in that case, but it's unnecessary.
