Painting Define R4

Go to solution Solved by Toddwjp,

take the case apart to all its components, you can remove the plactic grill and everything quite easily with just a screwdriver, i know because i have a half painted r4 case on my other desk :P

use masking tape for the window and then a fine craft knife to follow the seam to get a clean edge.

leave it for a few days just to be sure with the paint, since paint fumes smell awful

also do an extra layer of clear coat on the plastic parts.

I've read prep guides, and I have the sandpaper, primer and coating.

My question is more about how do I deal with the holes, side window and front plastic grill? Can I use anything to cover up the window while I paint it?

My main concern is the wet paint dripping through the holes/down the grill, and restricting airflow/screw holes.

Also, how long should I let the inside of the case dry before putting my computer back together?

This is the paint im using:

Everything @Toddwjp said.

I'd suggest using a fan and point it at the inside of the case, outside, side panels, etc.. after you finish painting them (Make sure the fan won't blow dust or crap all over the stuff you painted otherwise it's probably not coming off!) that way it dries a little faster and some of the fumes from the paint go away sooner as well. (I'd suggest doing this in a garage or similar)

Thanks. I didnt even know the grill could be completely removed.

So I shouldn't worry about paint drying over ventilation holes? I just dont want it to interfere with my rads

the vent holes are quite large you dont have to worry about the paint covering them
