Internet is being slow

I know, but its slower than usual, I don't know how to explain

is it 1 service in particular thats slow.. if yes I would say that it's 1 of 2 things..

 

First is the service could be experiencing high load.. Simple really, they only have so many resources to share out.

Second is that your ISP (or somewhere between you and the service) is having heavy load or is throttling the service your using.

 

Not much you can do about these unfortunately.

Okay so basically, a couple of months ago my internet speed was amazing, I can load 1080p videos no problem, and recently I can't watch a 720p video without it needing to buffer.

I contacted my ISP and gave me the same ol' answer of turn off and turn on your modem/router, so I don't know what to do now, and this is why I'm asking for help here.

 

bare in mind that I'm at a 10Mbps and 2Mbps download and upload plan which my ISP provides. and its cheap, and I also use fiber optics, I use an Ethernet cable from my router to my PC,

I changed my router from the one the ISP gave me to a TP-Link 300Mbps one (TL-WR940N / TL-WR941ND )

that is pretty much exactly the speed advertised?

Yea he's lucky normally in North America they give you only half of what you pay for.

@Fictionvl If thats your current speed and your paying for 10 / 2, then there is no issue.

Sounds like to me that you're being throttled heavily.  I would try using a VPN or something of that nature.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Sounds like to me that you're being throttled heavily.  I would try using a VPN or something of that nature.

 

How can I prevent getting throttled?
