ASUS PB298Q Dilemma

I have a bit of a dilemna

 

I'm currently using an ASUS PB298Q as my main monitor until later this yeah when the ACER X34 or ACER X35 are released.

The problem is I am using DP currently and I am unable to access the aspect control functions of this monitor which means when I play games such as Dark Souls it stretches the res when I select 1920x1080. Turns out aspect control is only available when using HDMi

 

So should I switch to HDMI or is their an option that is available for me when using DP. Yes I am aware of Widescreen Fixer and Flawless widescreen, I just want to know if their is away to play in 1920x1080 with black bars using DP
