well. if it is the main HDD, say your boot drive. all you need to do is go to uninstall programs. then uninstall everything you don't want. But don't install anything you need. like C++ and what not.

If it's a seperate HDD, then you can just delete everything other then the steam and chrome file folder.

if you want to clean up your drive, formatting and doing a clean windows install is the best way, tbh. Copy anything you want to keep to an external drive.

Hey,

If you are logged into Chrome then all your bookmarks, extensions, etc are backed up to the cloud / Google account so you can reinstall that at any point and get it back to how you had it.

If you want a fresh feeling OS you really do need to do a complete format and install.

I can understand wanting to save Steam / Origin / game files as they are rather large and annoying to re-download. You can transfer that data to any media you like as long as it has enough space hence why we like external HDD.

Kind of old fasioned but can't I put it on a disc?

Yeah sure, it seems a little inconvenient though. HDDs are pretty cheap

Hi there @megjake!

When you reinstall the OS on your drive the best thing will be to format it. This means that all the programs on it will be wiped and you cannot select few that will remain there.

However, you can still make a backup of your Steam games somewhere (external drive, discs, etc.), and like @k4p84 wrote when you are logged into Chrome the bookmarks and extensions are backed up to the cloud, so you can reinstall them.

Hope this helps.

Cheers! :)
