Looking for the tools needed to burn in and test, and get benchmark  CPU's/GPU's/Memory. I want to start building an OC'd system and want to "validate" the build before I put it to work. I tired watching linus's videos but he speaks so fast it didnt give me a chance to catch them all and rather than pause and play to death I figured I would just ask. I've built relativly simple systems all my life but Im want to get more.

There are several. Most well known benchmark is 3Dmark and its latest free test Firestrike. Other good benchmarks are Cinebench, Novabench, Allbenchmark and SuperPi mod.

For stress tests Aida64 is most recommended. If you have older Intel or AMD cpu, you can also use Prime95. Others are OCCT, Linpack and for Intel XTU and IBT. There are others like Geekbench and Asus ROG Realbench but I don't have personal experience with them. For GPU you can use Kombustor or Furmark as stresstest. Also Unigines Heaven and Valley are widely used.

And then there are gameplay tests and built-in becnhmarks.

What about recording CPU/GPU usage & temps during gaming?

All software have max indicator which however only record max spikes. I use RealTemp for both while stress testing. If you need wider scale, like with timings or graph, Afterburner is easiest for that. I think OpenHardwareMonitor can do good graphs too. Most feature rich, with logs, is HWiNFO.
