I started to build a new pc and I was wondering should I upgrade my CPU i7-2600 to i7-4790K?

Depends on what you're doing with it.

 

If you're doing stuff like gaming I think you should prioritize graphics and go to an i5 instead - you only really need an i7 these days if you're doing stuff like video editing.

How do your games run? If you want more gaming performance, getting a new CPU won't help you that much. What video card do you have?

A 2600 shouldn't be a problem at all for current games though, don't know why you wouldn't wait a while longer.
