Might be abit small with just 500Gb if you are planning to game on it. (Games takes aloot of space)

not if you install 1 at a time xD

I might  see if I could squeeze in a 7200rpm 1 or 2 terabyte hdd for mass storage, I have one hdd that Is 3 tb I got games and movies on, I have used nearly half of it up already then I got another 1tb hdd I got all my family pictures and movies on and some music on that is about 1/4 of the way full, my ssd which is 500 gig, is just my os and some programs and it is about 1/3 of the way full.  500 gigs gets used up fast if you put games on it, heck my steam folder on my drive with games is nearly 700 gigs alone.

If you are going to get a Z series MoBo get a K series CPU, Z series is optimized for OC-ing. If not just go with an H97 with i5 4460. Also i would suggest to lower the SSD to 250 GB (as a boot drive) then add 1TB of HDD. Get a better PSU (i.e. Antec and Seasonic), as for ram 8 GB atm is enough you can upgrade it in the future. dont spend a lot when this will be your first time. Just go small then upgrade it. You can play 1080p @60 fps with a cheaper build. Also what kind of games are you going to play? Dont underspend but dont overkill your system and not even fully utilize the capabilities of it. It's not a trophy case (imo). Also dont forget the monitor, if you have a great system but a sub par monitor, what's the point. You wont be able to see what its fully capable of.

You can get better for the money.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cbRVQ7

please note, I have a list of trusted merchants, even if their prices run higher. What appears to me $1,500 may look like less to you.

(AND YOU GET A FREAKIN' 980 IN THIS SETUP)

Samn, a 4TB HDD (for?) and a >$100 case. Pretty OP imo. Also for the price of that PSU you can get a "higher" quality one.

2TB for RAID1, and I don't like changing the case. Its what people see the most, and if he chose it, its what he gets.

Why raid a mass storage? Unless he puts his rig at the living room and/or he wants a great lookibg case, i disagree. Ik he has to look at it but i dont think it's worth it (imo, i scale performance > looks that's just me tho)
