Which motherboard should i get?

Hello guys, i´m planning to buy a intel pentium g3258 to overlock it. when they release skylake or boradwell desktop intel cpus, i plan on grabbing an i 7 4790k when the price drops a little

atm i have my eyes on the motherboard series of asus.. i have my eyes on the Asus Z97-p which is the cheapest in my country.

so my question is does this motherboard overlock good? will it be a good combination with and i7 and a gtx 970 ?

or should i invest more or get a different motherboard? i had an as rock board before and it was really good but i may try one asus board now...

regards, ezio

-snip-

I've built on 4 or 5 Z97-A's which, I would assume, are the P's closest cousin depending on the region. All have OC'd exceptionally well. This can be said for just about every Z97 board out there, regardless of the manufacturer, ASUS just has the best UEFI IMO.

i7, 970 or 980 (as well as the 280X/290X), are a great combination. There's no point in investing more money into a MOBO beyond the features you need.

LanSyndicate Build | i5-6600k | ASRock OC Formula | G.Skill 3600MHz | Samsung 850 Evo | MSI R9-290X 8GB Alphacool Block | Enthoo Pro M | XTR Pro 750w | Custom Loop |

Daily | 5960X | X99 Sabertooth | G.Skill 3000MHz | 750 NVMe | 850 Evo | x2 WD Se 2TB | x2 Seagate 3TB | Sapphire R9-290X 8GB | Enthoo Primo | EVGA 1000G2 | Custom Loop |

Game Box | 4690K | Z97i-Plus | G.Skill 2400MHz | x2 840 Evo | GTX 970 shorty | Corsair 250D modded with H105 | EVGA 650w B2 |

Thanks, I've ripped through enough MOBO's in the last couple years to know when I'm about to waste a ton of money on some pretty plastic, or an extra port I'll never use

If I'm building for someone else, I know better than to argue with them about it
