I'm returning my R9 280X windforce as it was faulty. I was really happy with the card while it was working. I'm after some suggestions as to what GPU should i choose to replace it. I want a card that plays games on high/ultra at around 60fps. No preference over amd or nvidia. Must be Custom card with 3gb vram and DDr5!

Budget? Could you afford something like a GTX 970 or a r9 290x?

GTX 970 is a bit overkill i think. I only have a 600w psu. Correct me if im wrong, but are the gtx 970 and the gtx 780 similar in performance? Just seems weird since the model "970" and "780" are quite different

the 970 is slightly faster and tbh I would get a 290x

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Sam Z Man, when are those cards being released? And would that mean the older cards will drop in price?

They are being released in a few days I belive, like less than a week's time.

I am not a wizard who can forsee the future, or how prices will behave. If I could, I would have bought lottery tickets a long time ago, and then been able to replace my i5 3450 a long time ago.

Edit-Just checked it's getting released on the 18th.

Is a 290x fine with a 600w PSU thekeemo?

Yes it is adequate.

And a GTX 970 performs much better than a GTX 780. GTX 780 Ti comes close to the 970, but the efficiency of the 970 is top notch. However, I would still recommend a 290X or wait till AMD announces their new cards on the 16th of this month. Btw, if you're looking to get a 290X, look for a used one to get a good deal (and save some money).
