Hi,

I recently sent back an AMD FX8350 to a company in holland for my money back (if you do in 14 days you get your money refunded), the instructions were to put it in the original package and in a safe box for shipping.

The CPU was fully functional when I shipped it and I put it in the original packaging (the plastic cover) and put that along with the heatsink fan in the package, surounded it by another box and filled it up with paper.

Now, they are saying it arrived with bent pins, which I can't believe since it was in the original packaging surrounded by paper for padding.

The thing that they are saying is that I put the CPU backwards in the plastic cover, that I should have put it the other way around.

I cant believe that they are saying this as is doesnt make sense to me, it shouldn't matter which orientation the CPU is placed in the plastic cover for shipping?

Can someone perhaps take a look at their CPU plastic cover and confirm this for me?

It seems to me someone may have accidentally bent the pins when opening the package and now they are blaming me for it.

go to court, they probably killed it themselves, there is otherwise nothing you can do

If you put it in the proper way the CPU is held in place but there is a gap in between the pins and the plastic for protection but if you put it in upside down the pins are pretty much touching the top of the plastic and can become bent easily if it was packaged with someone heavy like a heatsink or just mishandled.

The CPU fits in the clamshell both ways so if you did accidentally put it in the wrong way and it arrived damage you're most likely out of luck unless you have evidence that you packaged it properly but at the very least you should get the CPU back and try to fix the bent pins yourself.

unfortunately it does make a difference

as you can see the cpu slot has rounded edges, meaning it can only be inserted pins up. If you unadvertently forced the cpu in the wrong way, you may have bent the pins on the angles. You could ask them to send you a picture, although of course they could just bend them themselves if they were willing to scam you. The only way you could prove you aren't at fault and it got damaged in shipping or unpacking when it arrived would be having a picture of the cpu in the right position with something proving it was taken the day of expedition.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨
