which PSU for GTX 980?

Should I buy EVGA SuperNOVA 750G2 or EVGA SuperNOVA 650GS for the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming SOC

Obviously the 750W G2 but it may be overkill depending on your other components.

the actual wattage of the PSU shouldn't make a difference as it will only draw as much as it needs, the 80+ rating is what affects the power bill

Aftermarket 980Ti >= Fury X >= Reference 980Ti > Fury > 980 > 390X > 390 >= 970 380X > 380 >= 960 > 950 >= 370 > 750Ti = 360

Get the 750W - it's a great PSU!

If you are only running a single GTX 980 then 550W should be plenty. For SLI then I would say 750W or above depending on the rest of the spec.

What are your upgrade plans for the future? If you plan on running these cards in SLI, I'd lean towards the 750 G2. However, it's whether you can justify the premium of that over a 650GS if it's going to be a single card system. The 650GS is an excellent PSU, but the 750 G2 is just better.

For a single card save your money and go for the 550GS, but if you plan to SLI then go for the 750G2.
