Tri-Band Routers Question

Hi,

 

Could someone please clarify how the Tri-Band routers work.

Are you able to use the 2 x 5Ghz bands combined and even also combine the 2 x 5Ghz with the 2.4Ghx band to get maximum through put

to any supporting connected client?

 

Or is it just more bands to serve more connected devices over Wifi if you have a busy house with lots of bandwidth hungry devices?

It's basically to serve more devices giving another band so tri-band isn't needed for most user unless they have a large number of bandwidth hungry 5.0GHz devices.
