Hey LinusTechTips Community,

Here's my problem, I've built my own PC a few weeks ago, and it was working fine. But when I run Prime95 my CPU temps jump up to 90-100 degrees Celsius (measured in Corsair Link, HWMonitor and RealTemp) attachment=104324:Capture.PNG] When I touch the cpu cooler, it feels relatively cool to the touch, but the little pieces to the left of it on the Motherboard get quite hot.  I've replaced the thermal paste multiple times, brought my cooler to RMA, and did a ton of research, but I couldn't come up with a solution.

I'd be very thankfull if anyone could help me out.

Here are my PC specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790k
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i (top mounted)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x8GB 2400Mhz
SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB
HDD: WD Green 3TB
GPU: 2x Nvidia Gtx 970 Asus Strix
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Ranger
Power Supply: Corsair RM750
Case: Define R5 Titanium

Greetings,

Experge

Prime 95 really shouldn't be used as a stress test anymore for Haswell chips. It ups the voltage like crazy. Try Intel XTU or Aida64 and see what the temps look like then. If they're in the 60-70 range (or lower) max after 10 or so minutes, you're doing just fine.

I don't do signatures.
