Mac Build

So a Friend of mine bows down regularly to the Apple Gods for honoring her with a Mac. Well her mac is quite old now (~2007 Mac Book) and she wants to get a new one for when she goes back to college.

I said Go for it because that situation gets you one of apple two "discounts" that they run year round. Now she says she wants it to play games as well as be a workstation.

So I'm Looking into a Stacked Mac mini with the i7,16GB RAM,shit HDD that I'll Swap for a OCZ or something, and a thunderbolt 8x PCIe GPU Dock. (~$1600 USD)

She wants a "Genuine" Apple so the Core of it at least has to be Apple.( see that Pun lol)

Does anyone have any advice at all other than a Hacintosh?

Just get her the Mac Mini with the best CPU, and add one of those thunderbolt GPU enclosures. So then she can play her games and be all set. One of these would do the trick http://www.sonnettech.com/product/echoexpress3d.html

I'd than grab like a 960, and call it a day.

I'm pretty sure his friend will hesitate about spending $900 on a PCIE expansion though

your friend has poor taste...those external gpus frankly rediculous overpriced and not worth it unless you have a high end machine to begin with...

Additionally, Macs suck complete ass at gaming. A plain computer with Windows can do Apple's computer's rendering and editing job faster and cheaper.
