How to tell if Over Ear IEM's will fit?

Guest

I really like the VSD3's for their price and reviews, but I heard that they are kinda big.  Is there any way to tell if they will fit in my ears before I order them, or is it just order and hope for the best?  To be safe, are there any other over ear IEM's I should look at that fit easier?

I can't say anything for those particular IEMs, but I have a pair of OCX 880 over ear IEMs and REALLY like them. So much so that I just sent them to be recabled for me. If you are worried about them fitting, unless you have really small ears, they should be fine.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

There are no good stores even close to where I live.  The best I can get is Bestbuy, but they have the best headphones in the word that they force down your throat because they are the best.  (im talking about beats)

They lock up the earbuds in a glass case though...

try to search for comparison between the one you want and the one that you can put your hands on to try. Some of the times there are good reviews on youtube that compare like this has a bit bigger ear cup that have a better build quality and stuff like that.

The trouble is I have no access to any over ear IEM's, nor have I ever tried any before.  I have just heard that they are so much more comfortable and much better sounding than other kinds of earbuds.

Ok, first off, they are not "Over ear IEMs"

That means over ear in ear monitors.

IEMs are in ear.

Gimme a break, I have no idea wtf I'm talking about, as you can obviously tell.  That's why I need help.

RE-400 will fit easily since it has small housing, although it kinda lacks the bass to be liked by the mass.

For over ear cable style IEM with tubular housing, see first if your ear bowl is big enough to fit in the IEM in. Second, look for the position of your second bend, is it rather weird positioned or not.

I've had trouble with having proper fit with IEM before, I find however shures and westones fit my ears very very well with triple flange ear tips

That is bad. Cause over the ear have a few specific problems. More significant will be head size, I have a big head so mine açtuallu put a lot of stress at lower ear part which makes it sore. And my ear is big so I need huge ear cup. And other than testing it will be hard. Unless you are sure you have below average ear cup size and average head size.

Buy them from Amazon.  If they don't fit, return them.

And if you'd like some IEM's to "try", go to Monoprice.com.  As you know, they are famous for having high-quality products that are fantastic bang-for-your-buck.  Most of their earphones are under $8 - $10, and have great sound quality for the price you pay (and decent sound quality in general), and are great ways to see what "style" of IEM fit you like.

And if you do decide to get more expensive and higher-quality earphones in the future (such as the VSD's you like), you can keep the Monoprice earbuds as "spare" IEMs that you can throw into a backpack, jacket pocket, gym bag, etc.
