Idea of cutting Silverstone sugo sg06

zoombay

Hi,

Me and my friend decided to build $2500 worth gaming PC each one of us in smallest form factor as possible without performance compromises.

We decided to go for 980 or 980ti which is around 10.5" ~ 266.7mm

When it comes to the case, I selected sugo SG10 but my friend wanted to go for SG05 or SG06 which can carry 10" GPU only.

We thought to cut the front steel side of the case where that area wont be viewable since the front plastic cover will take care of it.

Is that doable ?

Any body done that on SG05 or SG06 ?

Is it going to affect the cooling performance ?

Please see the red area from inside SG06 there is like space behind the front cover

Isn't this the same case that Linus and Luke built with a titan in?

Check out the video (recent one about sff build) If yes, it should fit as long as it's not longer than stock.

Looking at the picture I think it is very doable and a quite good idea. Looks like a easy mod that wont hinder the looks of the case at all though it may slightly restrict air flow from the front of the case.

Got this picture for sg05

Now The only concern is the cooling performance and air flow

Any one here tried it ?

Give it a go it's not that hard, you'll need some tools like a dremel/rotarty tool with a reinforced abrasive cutting disc. It won't affect performance, from the looks of things it won't be a problem since the card is getting it's own fresh air from the open side panel mesh.
