The Final Build (hopefully)

Go to solution Solved by Dzzope,

2 changes should make it look better and cost less..

The Define S is the same as the R5 but has no 5.25" drive bay for optical.. since your not getting one... It's also cheaper.

The ram, looks better and has same spec but cheaper..

The coolermaster is a good PSU but expensive.. here is an XFX (seasonic built) gets good reviews and deff has the 4 pci-e pins at a fraction of the cost. (Ignore the compatibility warning, it's wrong.. It has 4 6+2 pin connectors.)

It's not modular but has flat black cables and the define S has lots of room to manage them with anyway.

Also, 32GB for a gaming rig is totally pointless unless your using it for some large amount of video editing or such.

Hi everyone.

What I have linked below is the parts that I am hoping to put into my new gaming rig. Please tell me if there is anything I should change before going ahead and buying all of it. The only thing I'm a bit unsure about it the RAM. If there is any better ran out there, let me know. The plan is to be gaming at 1080p with high FPS, hopefully 60+ on most games (GTA, Battlefield, Farcry etc...).

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Jyh6gs

Now, this other link is what I could do in the future, just upgrade some of the parts. Get 32Gb RAM + another 970 for SLI. Does this look ok? Will it work. I know it says parts are incompatible but the board does have 2 PCI-E slots, or is it another issue? Possibly I could be gaming in 1440p in the future but with the future rig so let me know if everything seems ok.

That's one gangsta af system. Change out the RAM with 2 red and 2 black though.

It means the PSU lacks the connectors.

 And this.

| Intel i7 5820K @ 4.8GHz | G.Skill Ripjaws 4X4GB | X99 PRO | HoF 980 | Asus MX299Q | Sennheiser HD600 |

Thanks for this. Not that I don't trust you but I haven't heard of that PSU before. I also can't find any reviews on it? If I were to get a cooler master 750w, should that do the job? I know it's a bit more expensive but it's from a brand I trust, know and have good reviews.

xfx are seasonic OEM.. it's a top notch PSU.. there are reviews if you look.

Don't trust CM PSU's... some are good some are OK many are garbage... Really depends on the line and who makes them for CM..

XFX ONLY use Seasonic as their OEM and I hope you've heard of them in PSU's.. they aren't the best but they are well up there..

I don't have the 750W (there are video reviews) but this is the 650W in the same series..

Don't get me wrong.. The CM VSM is good.. it's just way too expensive when you have the option of the XFX.( £10 more and 100w less)

Thank you. Have you any idea what the noise level of the XFX 750w is like? I'm hoping for my machine to be a near silent one.

Your looking at about 40% load with a single card and overclocks. Your looking at about 75% with 2 cards but the GPU's will be as loud if not louder than it at load.

And that's with the MSI 970? Aren't they meant to be really quiet? If I get the XFX 750w and do the other upgrades. Do you think the PC is ready to be put together?

They are quiet and cool but they will make some noise at load.. Especially if/when you go SLI. (970 and 980)

That said the case is insulated so all noise will be lessen'd.

Your good to go.. You were good before but it's all about the tweaks. :)

Ooooo! It's all very exciting! That's the parts in part picker above. Everything seem right?

Also you said ignore that it says incompatible didn't you with the two 970's?

Looks good to me.

Yea, it has 4 6+2 connectors according to the spec sheet.. pcpartpicker has it as 3, thats why it's giving the incompatibility notice.
