Hi, How are you guys?

I'm new to this forum, I was wondering if you could help and advise me :)

It's mainly for Gaming / Editing

i7 4790K

212 EVO CPU COOLER

MSI Z97 GAMING 7

EVGA GTX 980Ti ACX 2.0 SC

Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2*8) 2400MHz

WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM

SAMSUNG 850 EVO 250GB SSD

Corsair AX860 Modular 80+ Platinum

Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller

That's $1725 is it well spent though?

(All from Amazon) It's easier for me this way.

- Not planning to OC. But keeping my options open.

The Case I'm planning to get is a Corsair 750D Full Tower I didn't include it cause I'm getting it locally.

I will appreciate any recommendations!

and what will I get out of this build?

Thank you! :)

No point in getting a k series CPU and a Z97 board if you don't want to OC.

~snip~

Hey R1o,

The plan seems pretty solid and should handle pretty much anything you throw at it.

One remark: I would consider a larger HDD as editing tends to fill up the storage drives pretty quickly and you might run out of space sooner rather than later. I would suggest checking out either WD Green or WD Black (depending on if you are going to use the HDD for plain storage or you would need faster access times).

Also a Platinum PSU might be a bit overkill, but having a better quality and more efficient PSU won't hurt if you can afford it. :)

Post some photos once the build is done.

Captain_WD.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^

Thank you for responding guys  :)

Captain_WD: Definitely I'll see what is best for me there, also I'll look into the PSU.

Zack: It's a beauty, I checked it. more expensive though, I'll definitely reconsider,

depends If I get a good deal or not. Thank you!  ^_^

lee32uk: you're right that would save a bit more budget for the case! what's the difference between the EVGA GS and G2?

GS is cheaper. I'll look into it.

Thanks!

GS is Seasonic OEM, G2 is SuperFlower LeadEx unit that's been improved upon. EVGA 750W G2 and 850W G2 are two of the best PSUs on the market right now IMO. Btw, you don't need to be spending any more than $130 or so on a mobo and $110 on RAM, max so don't over spend. When it comes to RAM, the speeds, timings, latency, etc make absolutely no difference.

The GS is made by Seasonic. You get a 7 year warranty with this version.

The G2 is made by SuperFlower. You get a 10 year warranty with this one.

I would go with whichever is the cheapest as they are both very good units. Seasonic and SuperFlower are both excellent manufacturers, so you can't go wrong either way.
