If gaming: i5-4690k

 

If doing video rendering, or using productivity programs that are very thread intensive: i7-4790k. Don't get an i7 if you play to play games and use Microsoft office once in a while

Just to set things straight the FX 6300 is only a technical 6 core-its really 3 modules/cores, with part of the cores split in 2 to give the appearance of 6 true cores.

What are you intending to do with your computer? And what's your total budget?
