new monitor

Joffen84

Hey Guys,

First post here, been following the youtube/vessel channel for a while

Built my PC about 2 years back and been more and more interested in it ever since, thing is i just put my old Dell monitor in it, then later added a second one from work, they are quite old, the oldes must be about 12-13 years or so so i bet ther ehas been made huge improvments.

I like to game but not competative, Witcher 3, Guild Wars 2, are games im enjoyin at the moment not hugely into FPS althoug i did like Borderlands

my ssystem is an i7-3770, 16GB ram, 660SLI  , SSD, i do plan on upgrading the GPU also in a bit

hopefully you guys can recomend something, i want  good quality monitor(s). im not sure i wanna go 4K, i want good colour, good value (but willing to spend a bit if its worth it) a good "feeling"  for size i have 22" monitors today and due to the layout of my desk i cant really go MUCH largere...but 24-28" would probably fit

im in Norway so all models might not be available here.

21:9 monitor maybe? You said you have room for the two 22" monitors you have already.

This will do the job of 2 monitors.

If you don't want 1440p, go with this:

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Your system is fine. On the same level as ANY 970/290 system out there.

What would give you massive improvement in gaming xp is a gsync monitor.

I suggest you go with one of the following:

Acer z35 - 35inch, VA, 2560x1080, 144hz, gsync
Asus pg34q - 34inch, IPS, 3440x1440, 75hz, gsync
Acer x34 - 34inch, IPS, 3440x1440, 100hz, gsync

Or if not, wait for a 29" widescreen gsync... they are sure to appear in the next few months. And yes, once you try 21:9, you`ll understand the people who say "21:9 > all"

Yes!! The advantage is you will no longer have a bezel separating the two, so if you need to spread a project or game over both, you dont have a bezel separating the view.

Also, I think it was LG that did this, but some maker set up the monitor so it would have the ability to have two separate 10.5:9 screens so it would act like two monitors. (Don't quote me, this is all secondhand memory.)

If you have the money, go for a 1440p ultrawide. If not, go for a 1080p ultrawide.

Cheers!

Yes going with ultrwide might be the good choice, the 1080p ultrawide looks good.
